Genovation Cars Featured on Recent Episode of PBS MotorWeek Show 7 Nov '13
ROCKVILLE, MD — Genovation's G2 car was recently featured on the PBS show MotorWeek. The G2 was a prominent part of a segment on testing being done at the University of Maryland’s Wind Tunnel facility on aerodynamic efficiency of automobiles. A scale model of the G2 was used. The show can been viewed online here with the wind tunnel segment beginning 8:45 into the show.
"We were honored to be part of this long-running and popular show and to be back in The Glenn L. Martin Wind Tunnel at the University of Maryland College Park to help demonstrate the capabilities of the facility,” said Genovation CEO Andrew Saul. “Genovation follows a line of automobile companies that have utilized the wind tunnel, including General Motors and Ford.”
Wind tunnel research is used to determine how manufacturers can reduce drag, improve fuel efficiency, and minimize wind noise in their vehicles. Computer models have shown the G2 to be very efficient, but actual testing is still required on a scale model to confirm computer calculations.
“Because aerodynamics play such a crucial part in determining the range and efficiency of a plug-in vehicle, especially at highway speeds, it was critical for Genovation to work with the very capable team at the University's wind tunnel,” Mr. Saul added. “The test results indicate that if produced, the Genovation G2 would be one of the most aerodynamic vehicles on the road today with a CD of .20 and that the car has excellent downforce and aerodynamic stability."
